I love bringing attention to those who are doing great things in our community, and MARF definitely fits the bill! This exceptional group of volunteers are making the city of
Madison,
Alabama a better place for our four legged friends!
MARF (Madison Animal Rescue Foundation) was founded last February by a small group of faithful volunteers with a big purpose....to help those dogs and cats who find themselves lost, homeless, or abandoned. With Madison's tremendous growth over the past years, the animal shelter is maxed out with our furry friends, and MARF has made its goal not only to find those pooches and kitties loving homes, but to help the city of Madison in its goal for a larger, adoption-friendly facility.
In their first year, MARF saved over 200 animals from being euthanized in our city...that is incredible! Run solely by a volunteer force, MARF supporters foster homeless animals, provide education to the community on the humane treatment of animals, health and safety, and pet adoption. They even have a place on their website where they list lost pets, so if you have lost a pet, check that out.
This weekend, MARF is participating in National Adoption Day, and will be at the Petco on University Drive (by Wal Mart) from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm with lots of wagging tails hoping to find a home sweet home. They also kitties for adoption, for all the cat lovers out there.
While MARF has seen success in this past year, they are aiming to do more. Only with the support of dedicated volunteers can they make that happen. So, if you are willing to donate your time, money, or home to foster one of these pups, get in touch with them. You can find out more about what MARF is doing by going to their website at
www.madisonarf.org. You can also find them on
Facebook at the Madison A.R.F. fan page. Every little bit helps in a big way.
Congratulations MARF on your ONE YEAR anniversary, and I hope this next year exceeds your goals! Thank you for all you do!
